"ULYSSES"-Message conveyed.

Tennyson, the famous Victorian poet, who lived in the age of great confusion between Science and religion, took his theme and hero for his poem “Ulysses" from the epic "Odyssey”, by the classic writer Homer. As T.S.Eliot wrote, no writer has existence if he cannot be a part of the chain that represents classic writers to modern writers. Or every writer who passes the test of time is a part of that chain of writers. In his opinion novelty is that which results when a writer amasses traditional knowledge and blends his individual talent with it, to create a literary work. Tennyson is the best example for this kind of greatness. He takes his hero from "Odyssey" and applies individual talent as a writer and makes Ulysses, the protagonist, immortal as a representative of never ending enthusiasm and zest and makes him a role model for all, in all ages. We, human beings are the true miniatures of Almighty, with that divine spark inside us. Omnipotent Almighty is there in all beings, unseen as a thread in a garland, where only the flowers are visible. If we have that divine light inside us, we have such an immense potential that we can perform any deadly adventurous task if we have an attitude for that. This is the message we get from this poem.
Ulysses, the ruler of Ithaca, who had participated in the Trojan War, returned to his motherland after an adventurous voyage. He ruled his country for some time. For this brave warrior, simply sitting in the palace along with his aged wife, Penelope and ruling the country, seemed unchallenging. He thought it a mild task and entrusted his son, Telemachus with the same. He urged for another wonderful, adventurous voyage in the stormy sea along with his brave sailors who were his companions in the Great Trojan War and the voyage. He wanted to be like a sword that shines in use and did not want to be one that rusts unburnished .He wanted to enjoy life till his last breath.
The poem is in the form of a monologue. Each and every line can be taken for a quotation. This poem impressed me so much that I believe that even the laziest man will get energy simply by going through the lines, or it is an energy booster for all generations.
